🔗 Share this article The Tooth Fairy Story Film Analysis: Cartoon Adventure with a Sprinkling of Family-Friendly Tween Romance In this cartoon journey aimed at tweens, the fairy community focuses on collecting teeth from sleeping youngsters and leaving treasure beneath where they sleep. Board-riding youthful nonconformist fairy Van (voiced by Booboo Stewart) is less than thrilled about devoting his life to collecting baby teeth—a feeling that’s entirely reasonable. He is just slightly more curious about the underlying economics behind it all: the fairies deliver the teeth to mysterious goblins, who provide metal in exchange. But Van’s curiosity is piqued when he catches sight of a goblin (voiced by Larkin Bell), who turns out to be far from the hideous creature he expected. A Forbidden Connection and Shared Threat Everything is prepared for an adventure with a light sprinkling of teen romance (though it’s perfectly appropriate for children). The goblin and fairy groups are separated from each other, and there’s nothing like the thrill of the forbidden to bring people together. The two species as seen here are remarkably alike, yet both maintain prejudiced beliefs about the opposite side. The fairies are supposed to be entitled types, prone to taking whatever they fancy, while goblins are allegedly dim-witted, smelly, and primitive, but are in fact intelligent and advanced in technology. Of course, such a setup needs a shared foe to join forces against, and this is duly provided in the form of a group of vicious spiders, with voices by Jon Lovitz and Fran Drescher. They make no secret with these guys: they aim to devour the fairies and goblins, and they serve as fairly bloodthirsty, though not especially competent, villains. Ideal Viewers and Final Thoughts There aren’t all that many children’s animations targeting the viewer group that is starting to experience early romances, but are not old enough for the content teenagers are watching instead of popular teen sagas. Should your youngster is in the right age bracket, this is unlikely to be their next all-time fave, but it’s a decent choice. The Tooth Fairy Story releases in movie theaters in Scotland starting October 10 and across the United Kingdom beginning October 24.
