A Number of Hurt as Rough Air Impacts A Delta Airlines Plane Landing at Sydney

Several people sustained injuries following a Delta Airlines flight originating in LA to Sydney, Australia encountered rough air Friday morning.

The flight, numbered 41 "encountered brief turbulence" as it made its approach and landed at Sydney Airport, a representative for the carrier stated. Several cabin crew members sustained injuries.

Local paramedics stated they assessed a total of five people, and took three to the hospital with relatively minor issues that comprised back pain and head pain. Those affected were between their thirties and seventies.

It is the newest example of aircraft encountering turbulence, with researchers pointing out that climate change is a major factor.

There were 245 people and 15 crew members on the Airbus A350, the Delta spokesperson said, adding that the plane arrived "safely" at the airport at 06:48 local time on the day in question.

Paramedics indicated they were alerted just only 180 seconds ahead of the plane landed, and ambulances were ready and waiting at the airport.
